Why are website builders SaaS?

Saas = software as a service, i.e. you have to pay recurring fees to continue using the website builder and keep your website online. It is a business model. Not all website builders are built on the SaaS model though. For example, open source platforms like WordPress, Joomla, or Magento, or my favorute website builder UltimateWB.

Then you just have to build one website and update one website. It doesn’t seem like an app that a user would install would be necessary. I don’t think users would expect to have to install an app to get a quote for

Why are website builders so hard to use?

Which website builders have you tried? I think what makes a website builder the most difficult is when the features aren’t built-in and you have to find/install third-party plugins and extensions to build the type of website you want. Also, when a website builder isn’t what you need out-of-the-box, it makes it harder to manage your website. Maybe you just haven’t tried the right website builder for what you want to build.
