Why Web Hosting Choice Matters When Choosing a Website Builder
When choosing a website builder, most people focus on templates, features, ease of use, and pricing. Web hosting is often overlooked - even though it can have a major impact on your website's performance, scalability, cost, and long-term flexibility. For many, slow loading speeds or sudden price hikes can be the wake-up call that makes them realize how important their hosting environment really is.
While closed platforms like Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, GoDaddy, and Shopify tie your

What are the limitations of sites like Wix?
Customizability, flexibility, and you have to host your website on their servers - you can’t download it and host on another server like you can with UltimateWB.

Should I switch from Squarespace to WordPress?
I prefer WordPress to Squarespace. It gives you more flexibility and customizability. But WordPress can be a lot more complicated/harder to use than Squarespace. If you wanted to switch, I would switch to UltimateWB, It is also very flexible and customizable, while also being very easy/fast - it has lots of built-in apps to get the functionalities that you want right out-of-the-box. With WordPress you have to find/install plugins for more features, and may get increased security risks, slower page

If I was choosing between Shopify or WordPress for an e-commerce website, I would use WordPress because it gets you more flexibility, and you get to pick your own web hosting. But if choosing between any e-commerce platform, I would choose UltimateWB. It is the most flexible and easiest platform, and you also have a choice on web hosting as it is downloadable like WordPress.

I would choose WordPress over Wix, Weebly, and other hosted website builders that restrict you to just use their web hosting, and pay the monthly fees they choose and may increase, or you lose your website. With WordPress you can download the software and install it on the web hosting server you choose, and you get access to your files and the web hosting control panel. WordPress is great for blogs, but it can get very complicated for websites, and

How is “Go Daddy” as a website builder?
The GoDaddy website builder is very limiting on flexibility and customization options, as well as features. Even if you just want a basic website, it’s not a good option. If you like their web hosting plans, you can still use it with a downloadable website builder that you can install on there, like WordPress or UltimateWB. I think UltimateWB is the best - the easiest to use, with the most features, lots of built-in apps, and very customizable. UltimateWB even

If you were going to choose just from those, it will really depend on what features you need. For example, if it’s e-commerce, it would be Shopify. But if you’re comparing to all website builders on the market that offer web hosting too, the best website builder is UltimateWB and it's also easy to use - you can use it to create any type of website, so no matter what features you need, it is the best.

Updated 2026: This post has been updated to reflect major industry shifts, including popular hosts moving away from cPanel and toward proprietary "lock-in" systems.
In our earlier post, "Best web hosting control panel? cPanel," we discussed why we offer cPanel free in all UltimateWB hosting packages. It is the interface you use to manage your files, databases, email accounts, and traffic statistics. But there is one reason we choose cPanel that is more important than all the others: your
