Wix Harmony Is Now in Google Gemini. So Why Are Users Still Complaining?

Wix Harmony complaints on Reddit

Imagine you’re already chatting with Gemini or ChatGPT about your website.

Maybe you’re asking it what your homepage should look like. Maybe you’re asking it to come up with content for your business. Or maybe you simply tell it, “I need a website for my landscaping business.”

Now imagine the AI says, essentially, Sure. Let’s build it.

On August 24, 2026, Wix announced that people can connect Wix to Google Gemini and use @Wix to create a website with Wix Harmony. Wix already has a similar integration with ChatGPT.

So now someone asking an AI to build a website can be sent straight into Wix Harmony.

But there’s a catch.

We’ve already written about the lock-in, customization, and control problems with Harmony in “The Wix Harmony Lock-In: When ‘Easy’ AI Website Building Gets Expensive.” And the complaints about Harmony haven’t stopped. Some aren’t about advanced web development. They’re about basic things people expect to be able to do when designing a website.

Wix Harmony Is Drawing Strong Criticism

The reaction from some Wix users to Harmony has been anything but mild.

In a Reddit discussion literally titled “WIX HARMONY SUCKS”, one user wrote:

“EVERY FEATURE THAT I NEED WAS NOT AVAILABLE!”

Another person trying to build a website for school wrote:

“I need to make a website for school, and I didn’t realize until it was time to import my videos that Wix Harmony BARELY. WORKS. and it isn’t the same thing as the version many tutorials use. You just flat out can’t embed a Youtube video; it doesn’t even give you the option like the AI assistant claims. And it’s painstakingly slow and clunky on top of all of that. Genuinely worst platform ever.”

Another user wrote:

“WIX Harmony is the most frustrating thing I have ever encountered… So slow, so hard to get what you need.. no CMS or dynamic pages. The Aria whatever is no help at all and creates more work.”

A similar complaint:

I’m being forced to use this for a client and I was like “Oh this shouldn’t be too bad” and oh my god I was wrong even things like ‘putting text on a grid’ is a hair pulling nightmare. This is an embarrassing product.

Whats worse is I’ll ask the stupid AI to how to do something and it’ll tell me to do things that don’t exist, because it was trained on the docs for the original editor I’m assuming? Completely insane.

These aren’t complaints about wanting some obscure developer feature. They’re complaints about trying to use the website editor.

In another Reddit discussion, “How do I switch off the harmony editor?”, a user wrote:

“I’m so sick of using it. It seems far inferior to the default editor and I’d like to use that one.”

Another user said:

“Just encountered Harmony for the first time today and realized immediately that I hate it.”

And another, after a business rebrand, wrote:

“I’m just sat chatting to a little robot; I’m at my wits end with this whole idea.”

Then there’s this:

“whenever I try to even change TEXT, I have to ask the ai to do it. I hate this.”

The same discussion includes people trying to figure out how to get their sites back into the Classic Editor because they preferred the older way of working.

There are complaints about performance, too. In another Wix discussion, “Wix out of memory error”, one commenter reported:

Oh, how nice. Wix deleted my comment about how terrible Harmony is. It’s an absolute POS. The AI is a joke and it is a RAM hog. I just witnessed it using 9GB of RAM. I have no other program open other than Chrome and only a single tab with Wix Harmony running. Complete garbage!

Other users in the discussion also reported unusually high memory usage with Wix itself.

Obviously, these Reddit comments don’t mean that every Wix user hates Harmony. But they do show that there are users having some very serious problems with it – and many of those problems aren’t about whether someone likes AI.

They’re about basic editing, missing features, performance, incorrect instructions, and the loss of direct control over a website.

And that’s a problem that exists inside Harmony itself, regardless of whether someone arrives there through Wix directly, ChatGPT, or the new Google Gemini integration.

Here’s a Simple Example: Changing a Menu Hover Effect

One of the more revealing examples isn’t some obscure developer feature.

It’s a menu hover effect.

Say you have a navigation menu and you want the menu item to change appearance when someone moves their mouse over it.

That’s a pretty ordinary website design request.

But Wix’s Harmony documentation says the design of its built-in menu hover and click states currently can’t be customized. The underline that appears on hover is built in and can’t be changed or removed.

Wix’s suggested workaround?

Recreate the menu using text or button elements and manually add the links.

That’s a strange place to end up with an AI website builder.

Wix Harmony can create the website for you – but then you may have to rebuild part of the website yourself because the editor doesn’t give you the design control you want.

With UltimateWB, this is the sort of thing you handle through the Styles Manager. You can set the styling for elements, including hover states, directly.

No prompt. No workaround. No rebuilding the menu.

Just change the style. In seconds.

There’s a big difference between having AI create something and having the controls to change it.

Harmony Has Some Other Real Limitations

The menu issue isn’t the only one.

Custom code isn’t supported in Harmony. Wix says that if you need custom code, the JavaScript SDK or Velo, you should use the Wix Editor or Wix Studio instead.

And if by “custom code” you mean PHP, there’s another limitation to know about: Wix doesn’t support PHP at all. Even the regular Wix Editor supports HTML embeds and JavaScript through Velo, but PHP code cannot be added to a Wix site. If you want that type of flexibility, read: Best Website Builder for Developers – PHP/MySQL Flexibility with UltimateWB.

There’s another thing you really want to know before building a site in Harmony: you can’t simply switch that site over to Wix Editor or Wix Studio later.

Wix says that once a site has been created with Harmony, it cannot be transferred to either of those editors. If you decide you need one of them, you have to create a new site. Same if you want to move from Wix Editor to Wix Studio, or vice versa. We wrote more about this in “The Wix Redesign Trap: Why Starting Over is Their Business Model, Not Yours.”

And sometimes customers have to make a switch because they assume Wix Harmony has the same features as the regular Wix Editor – and find out the hard way that it doesn’t.

One Reddit user described what happened after building a client’s site in their post, “Wix harmony costing me sleep tonight“:

“Eventually built the entire website in harmony instead of restarting as I had already done a big chunk of work in there – only to realize once everything was approved, there was no multilingual feature which was essential for my client”

The result:

“Now I have to redesign the whole thing in wix editor… now I’m pulling a late night to try and keep up with deadlines”

Another Redditor wrote about other feature omissions:

“Harmony and the Wix restaurant app allows you to do everything but actually add an item to the shopping cart – an incredible number of features, extensions and apps simply don’t work with Harmony”

And another user agreed:

“..Harmony and the new build format is a giant pile of shit. So hard to find anything and half the features are broken or lag so fucking bad. Harmony is a textbook example of pushing the AI out the door just to get it on the market.”

Wix Is Making Harmony Easier to Find. But Has It Been Fixed?

Wix is putting Harmony in more places where people are already asking AI to help them.

Now you can start with Google Gemini. Wix already has a similar integration with ChatGPT. Someone who has never even visited Wix can now be sent directly into Harmony to build a website.

But the Gemini integration doesn’t fix the problems with Harmony itself.

The complaints from Wix users are about the editor: missing features, limited design controls, slow performance, incorrect AI instructions, difficulty making basic changes, and having to rebuild when they discover they need something Harmony doesn’t support.

Those limitations don’t disappear because someone entered Wix through Gemini.

And that is the bigger question for any AI website builder: Can you still easily control the website after the AI creates it?

Because creating the first version is only one part of owning a website.

You may eventually want to redesign it. Add functionality. Change how something works. Use custom code. Add another language. Move to a different editor. Or simply make a design change that the AI didn’t anticipate.

That’s when the editor matters.

So, has Wix Harmony been fixed?

Based on what Wix users are reporting and what Harmony still doesn’t support, no.

Wix is making Harmony easier for people to find. But making it easier to start a website isn’t the same thing as making it easier to build the website you actually want – and then keep changing it as your needs change.

Getting people to try Wix Harmony may be easy. Giving them the control they need to keep building and changing their websites is a different matter.
