Where to get photos/images for your website?

You want your website to look pretty and attractive, and convey your company’s brand, be the pretty book with the pretty content.  Hmm… good advice for dating too, huh?!  But I digress…  So, where to get these photos and images for your website?  There are 2 different ways to go, and you might go with both to suit your full needs.

1) If you are selling items, you will want the photos of your items displayed on your online store, of course!  If you are selling clothes, or something similar that would benefit from the items being photographed with models, that is something to consider too.  You can either invest in a good digital camera, or pay for a photographer to take the pictures … depending on your budget.  Then you will want to edit the photos for your website – cropping images as needed, and optimizing the images for the web.  You can use photoshop or a free graphics program such as gimp, or hire a graphics or web designer for that.

Personalized photos aren’t just good for e-commerce websites though.  If you are a restaurant, gym owner, or other place of business, your website will greatly benefit from having photos displayed on your website of your location, your equipment, the inside/outside of your place of business, your staff, etc.  Give your website that “personal touch” that you just can’t get with the next option…

2) Stock photos!  Just google stock photos to go directly to the stock photos websites and search for the stock photo you are looking for to purchase for use in your website.  You can purchase a small package of photos, with each photo costing just a couple of bucks.  Depending on the type of photo/image you are looking for, you might be able to find it on a free stock photo/graphics/icons website.  If you google the type of photo you want in google images, that can also take you to websites where you can purchase them from, or download for free if it is a free downloads website.
