Do I need to learn WordPress, JavaScript, and Python to get into web development?

You should either learn coding or use a platform for web development. For coding, I would go with html, css, js, and php/mysql. For a website builder/platform, I would go with UltimateWB. If you want to make a blog, WordPress is good. For websites, I think WordPress is more complicated and can cause a lot of issues when you need to upgrade, due to incompatibilities with plugins. And then there is the security risk with the WordPress plugins and possible slow page speeds and high server resources that may be required. I also like the way you can extend features on UltimateWB, rather than creating plugins. It is more like how you would do it if you were building a website from scratch, like with php includes. Actually, with UltimateWB most people don’t need to know any coding to build their website, as UltimateWB has so many built-in apps that you can customize without any experience. You can build any type of website with UltimateWB so it is a great platform to use. You may want to learn html and css, as you can make use of it with UltimateWB too, when you are creating content, or stylizing (but it’s not required).

Got a techy/website question? Whether it’s about UltimateWB or another website builder, web hosting, or other aspects of websites, just send in your question in the “Ask David!” form. We will email you when the answer is posted on the UltimateWB “Ask David!” section.
