Ask David! Question
I want to sell stuff online but I also want to share my knowledge in this field, which I believe will also help my website in SEO and help sell stuff. So, I just want to make sure: Can I have a blog and an e-commerce page all in one website?
David’s Answer
Yes. You can have a blog and an e-commerce store all in one website.
With UltimateWB, you have two options for the blog.
You can use the built-in Articles App, or you can use the integrated WordPress Blog option.
Use the Articles App
If you don’t specifically need WordPress, the easiest option is to use UltimateWB’s built-in Articles App.
You can publish your own articles, news, or announcements, and you can also allow members or visitors to submit their own articles if you want to.
You control how user submissions work, including who can submit, what they can add, and whether articles are published automatically or require your approval first.
You can also add photos and videos to your articles, and use built-in comments and ratings if you want to let readers interact with your content.
The Articles App works right along with the rest of your UltimateWB website, including your e-commerce store.
And you don’t need to add a separate SEO system just because you’re adding a blog.
UltimateWB has built-in SEO functionality.
Or Use WordPress for the Blog
If you prefer WordPress for blogging, you can use WordPress for that part of the website and still use UltimateWB for your website and e-commerce store.
UltimateWB includes an integrated WordPress Blog option for this.
The WordPress blog can also be styled to match the rest of your website using UltimateWB’s Styles Manager, so you don’t have to make the blog look like it belongs to a completely different website.
And here’s an important part: the SEO functionality is built in with the WordPress option too.
We integrated UltimateWB’s SEO functionality into the WordPress setup, so you aren’t starting with WordPress and then having to add SEO plugins to get the SEO features you need.
The integrated WordPress option includes SEO titles and descriptions, image optimization, automatic WebP images, schema markup, and other SEO functionality.
So if you want WordPress for your blog, you can have it without giving up the advantages of UltimateWB for the rest of your website.
Which Blog Option Should You Use?
If you just want a good blog as part of your UltimateWB website, use the Articles App.
If you specifically want WordPress for your blog, use the integrated WordPress Blog option.
Either way, your blog and e-commerce store can be on the same website, and SEO is built in.
Your Blog and Store Can Work Together
Having a blog and an online store on the same website can make a lot of sense.
Let’s say you sell photography equipment. You could write articles about lenses, photography techniques, choosing equipment, and other topics your customers are interested in. Those articles can then link to the products you’re talking about.
Or maybe you sell gardening products. You could write about planting, soil, seasonal gardening, and other useful topics, then link to the products that go along with those topics.
The point isn’t to create a blog just because someone says every online store needs one.
Write useful content that people actually want to read. Then connect it to your products when it makes sense.
That gives you more useful content on your website and more opportunities for people to find your website through search.
And because the blog and store are on the same website, a visitor can go from an article to a product without being sent to another website.
