I have a Wix site, looking for best replacement for Forum, and came across WB Ultimate.  I can't tell, is this an app that plugs into Wix (like Forum did), or is this a standalone app that would be linked from our Wix site, or is this an alternative to Wix?

So, if you want to use UltimateWB's built-in Forum, you could use UltimateWB for your whole website instead of Wix and rebuild your website with UltimateWB. The Forum is integrated into UltimateWB, along with many other built-in features and apps.

Alternatively, rather than rebuilding your website, since Wix does not give you access to the server/database, you might want to consider creating your forum separately and then linking to it. But this would require paying for an additional hosting, as Wix doesn't let you upload and run PHP and create a database to hold the data.

Options would be UltimateWB Cloud that includes the website builder with web hosting, or you can opt to buy the software (Full version required for Forum and other social features) and hosting either at UltimateWB or any web host that satisfies the server requirements. You may later want to move your whole Wix website to UltimateWB website builder and can use what you have to build on it as you have time.
