Starting December 16, 2025, Meta is using conversations you have with its AI chatbot to help target ads and content across Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. In other words, your AI chat isn\u2019t just for fun – it\u2019s also feeding information into what ads you see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How It Works<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When you interact with Meta\u2019s AI chatbot, the system can pick up on interests, plans, and preferences you mention. Maybe you talk about an upcoming hiking trip, or express love for a certain type of music – the AI can use that info to show ads that match what you\u2019re into.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For advertisers, this is a goldmine: they get richer, more relevant insights about potential customers. For users, it means ads may feel more personalized – for better or worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Privacy – What\u2019s Off-Limits<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Meta says certain sensitive topics – like religion, health, or politics – won\u2019t be used in targeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, users in the EU, UK, and South Korea are protected from this new system due to stricter privacy rules. In the U.S., though, users don\u2019t have an option to opt out of AI-driven ad personalization. So, if you\u2019re chatting with Meta\u2019s AI, your interests may be shaping what you see in your feeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
