CLEAR, in partnership with the TSA, has launched a pilot program at major airports, including Atlanta (ATL), Washington D.C. (DCA), and Seattle (SEA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Are Biometric eGates?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Biometric eGates use <strong>facial recognition<\/strong> to verify a traveler\u2019s identity. By scanning your face and matching it to your boarding pass and ID, these gates allow you to bypass traditional TSA lines. The process is fast &#8211; typically under six seconds &#8211; making security checkpoints smoother and more efficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who Can Use Them?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, eGates are available to <strong>CLEAR Plus members<\/strong>, who pay an annual fee of $209. Members can enjoy expedited security, and discounted rates are available for family members and TSA PreCheck participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Privacy and Security<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>CLEAR emphasizes that it does <strong>not store biometric images long-term<\/strong> and does not access TSA watchlists. All biometric data is deleted within 24 hours, and TSA maintains full oversight over security procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where and When<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The pilot program is limited to select airports for now, but expansion is planned for <strong>up to 30 airports nationwide<\/strong>, ahead of major events like the 2026 World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Big Picture<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Biometric eGates represent a major step toward <strong>modernized, faster airport security<\/strong>.
